Five Tips for Getting Fuller Hair

tips for getting fuller hair

Whether it’s due to hair loss, heavy styling products or hair weight – losing your volume makes every day a bad hair day. Thick, voluminous hair looks healthy and allows different hair styles. It’s no wonder many women use hair extensions to get thicker hair and a sexy hair whip like the one from commercials. However, extensions can be quite pricey, uncomfortable, and damaging for your hair. There are still other ways to keep your tresses looking volumized and badass. Whether you want thick braids and ponytails, big buns or a messy, bedhead look, here are five really simple and easy tips for getting fuller hair, without using hair extensions.

Get a better cut

Long, flat hair can make your hairstyle look a bit dull and volume-less. If you wish to make your hair appear more volumized and thicker, opt for layers and shorter cuts. Shorter hair is lighter, which immediately adds some volume and makes it bouncier.

Don’t use heavy products

It’s important to condition your hair correctly (which usually means – don’t over condition!) and avoid products that can weigh it down, such as silicone-based products, oils and heavy sprays, mousses, waxes, creams, and gels. Some of those products can make your hair looks shiny and smooth, but it’s only temporary and not good in the long run.

Use castor oil

We’ve said not to use oils – however, castor oil is well-known for supporting hair growth. Add a bit of castor oil (just a bit) to your shampoo to make your hair grow faster and thicker, or make a pre-shampoo homemade mask, and wash it out thoroughly. Also, feel free to distribute a bit onto your lashes and brows, if you want them thicker, too.

Little styling tricks

This is one of the quickest and cheapest tips for getting fuller hair.  Blow dry your hair upside-down to instantly add more volume at the roots. Also, wearing a really high ponytail for one hour or more can do the same trick, or changing the place where your hair is parted. It’s not very permanent – your hair will go down after a while, but it’s so easy!

Take hair supplements

On the other hand, this is one of the tricks for getting fuller hair that takes time (usually 8 to 12 weeks). However, it’s worth it! Taking supplements for hair growth will feed your hair inside out. Products with hair thickening vitamins such as CatalaseNow may promote growth through nurturing your hair with vitamins, minerals and the powerful antioxidant Catalase (read more here)

Five Causes of Hair Loss

hair loss and hair supplements

We all lose a certain amount of hair every day. The experts claim that the hair loss of 50 – 100 hairs a day, or up to 250 on the days when we wash your hair is perfectly normal. It is also natural to shed more hair in spring and fall. There is no need to worry since it’s just your body’s response to seasonal changes. No one really counts the number of lost strands, however, sometimes we notice that our hair is not as voluminous as it used to be, and the number of strands that have fallen out is visibly above normal.

Excessive hair loss is a problem that affects equally women and men. Any longer periods of excessive hair loss can be a sign of a medical condition, such as hypothyroidism, lupus, polycystic ovarian syndrome, diabetes, anemia, or different skin conditions. Make sure you first consult your doctor, especially if the hair loss is paired with other symptoms. Luckily, there are some less serious causes of hair loss.

Here we give you five possible reasons why your hair is falling out so much, and what you can do about it.

1. Tight braids and ponytails

If you like wearing your hair in tight braids and cornrows, or pulled back styles such as ponytails, or buns, and if you do it on a regular basis, don’t be surprised when you notice that your hairline is receding. Opting for a messier updo, or letting your hair down sometimes will give your stressed hair a bit of time to relax and rest.

2. Stress

Stress is the most frequent culprit for various conditions nowadays. If your body has experienced a very stressful situation, may it be an injury, a death of your loved one, or a breakup, you might notice fistfuls of fallen hair in your bath, probably not immediately, but up to three months after the stressful event.  Even chronic, daily stress at your workplace can lead to excessive hair loss. Try to reverse the detrimental effects of stress with exercise, meditation, and a good night’s sleep.

3. Hormones

Ah, hormones. Apart from stress, one of the most frequent culprits for all your problems, especially if you’re a woman. Pregnancy, birth control, menopause and any hormonal imbalances can cause hair loss. But don’t worry – it’s usually just temporary.

4. Dramatic weight loss

As much as desired weight loss can be healthy and good for you, a sudden and dramatic loss  might shock and surprise your body, causing the thinning of your hair. In this case, just give your body a few months to recuperate and get used to your new weight.

5. Vitamin and mineral deficiency

Your thinning hair might also be a sign that your body is missing important vitamins and minerals. One of the common causes of hair loss is iron deficiency. Apart from that, bad dietary habits based on junk food can be the reason why your body is not getting enough protein and vitamins vital for hair growth. Work on improving your diet and include vitamin supplements into your diet. For example, CatalaseNow Super Premium Vitamin pills contain the super antioxidant enzyme called Catalase, and a mixture of herbal and mineral ingredients that may combat toxins and prevent hair loss and thinning.
